Can the Purity live in the World?

I watched "Lazzaro Felice" in television last night. Lazzaro has a pure personality, merciful and innocent face..he can live as a slave in the town without compliant..and he is happy in the town.

but in the end of movie, he escape from the town and came to the city..and..he was killed in the city as a "free human" by citizens of modern Italy.

while he can live in town as a slave, he can not live in the city as modern human..

it is important, which one is good, the living as a slave in the town or die in the modern city as a "free human" with pure, merciful personality, and innocent face?

the movie pushed me thinking about these opinions..Let's watch together..may be, it will push you to think.
